The National Board of Examinations (NBE) sets the eligibility guidelines for FMGE exam. The eligibility criteria for FMGE includes:

  • Foreign medical graduates must be a citizen of India.
  • Foreign medical graduates must have obtained an Eligibility Certificate (EC) from the National Medical Commission (erstwhile Medical Council of India) before beginning their MBBS abroad.
  • Candidates should have primary medical qualification approved by the Indian Embassy for FMGE exam to be a medical practitioner in India.
  • Candidates with an undergraduate medical qualification from Australia/ Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America are exempted from FMGE/NExT exam.

Most top universities allow the student to complete an internship in that nation itself. In addition to this, they also enable the students to return to their home country for the training.
